In south carolina early intervention, BabyNet is a system that provides early intervention services to children with developmental delays. BabyNet serves children regardless of their family’s income. This program is managed by the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. The program works with several community organizations, including Easterseals South Carolina, to help children reach their full potential.
BabyNet identifies developmental delays, coordinates support for families, and connects children to resources. It also works to transition children from early intervention services to school and daycare.
The program works with four state Regional Part C Coordinators, who meet with local stakeholders on a monthly basis to discuss the delivery of services. BabyNet also hired a Part C Data Manager in February of this year. These officials are working closely with representatives from the Department of General Oversight (DGO) to resolve data issues.
In late 2019, South Carolina issued its first formal findings of non-compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part C program. These findings were based on data that was collected from the monitoring system.
