The 2010 Olympic Games were an opportunity to update the city’s branding. The Vancouver Canucks were ready to join the action and needed a new logo. The original design featured an abstract electric network and the first letter of their name, XT. Now, the same graphic design is used on their web site and print collateral. But, a new logo is needed for the team’s new logo and identity system. Below are some of the highlights from the Olympics.

The Vancouver logo design shifted colors in 1997. The black orca from the previous year’s design was replaced with a darker blue and the letter “C” was made lighter. The new visual identity also features the Joe Borovich emblem, which retains its original hue and style with a white background and blue hockey stick. However, the company’s logo has gone through several redesigns since then. Here are two of the most recent designs:

The new Vancouver Canucks logo was introduced in 2007. Originally, the logo was a skating hockey player in a red, white, and blue color palette. The team’s fans nicknamed the logo Johnny Canuck. For a while, it remained the club’s official logo until they joined the NHL. But then, the team opted to redesign the logo in 1975 with a new colour scheme – blue and white.
